Subject: Wilber site redesign Date: Sun, 27 Apr 2003 23:12:59 +0200 From: Frank Visser To: f.visser3@chello.nl WILBER FRIENDS MAILING LIST =========================== http://www.worldofkenwilber.com Amsterdam, April 27 2003 Hi Wilber Friend, This time a purely technical Newsletter. I noticed about 40% of you are using a screen resolution of 600x800 pixels or lower (yes, i know all about you ;-), resulting in a distorted display of the website, especially the left navigation bar. with over 300 web pages, the two dozen buttons I used in the navigation bar took up simply too much vertical space for a normal display. I have created a dynamic navbar using submenus that pop out to the right, so the vertical height of the navbar is greatly diminished. also, over 60 topics can now be accessed using the navbar and its submenus. since the navbar has to built up by javascript everytime you open the home page, it may take a while before you see it. if you encounter any trouble with this new design, let me know! the reason i am still using frames for this website (one of the deadly sins of webdesign according to Jacob Nielsen, its guru) is that this enables you to print the long essays from the Reading Room in the most economical way, without getting a navbar or empty space on your printout. any suggestions for improvement of this site are welcome, so i have created a... yes: ideas for improvement? page. (See under INTERACTIVE STUFF). also, let me know if you could find the information you were looking for on this site easily. what information would you like to be added to the site? frank -- xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Frank Visser, Waterpoortweg 279, 1051 PV A'dam, Netherlands Read all about Ken Wilber : http://www.worldofkenwilber.com xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
